Firefly/Mal video - Follow My Way
Here's my third vid. The song's often called "epic," so I tried to give the video the same feel. Not easy. Had to start over twice, and the structure of the thing was so complex that my PC could barely handle the editing process.

Name: Follow My Way (music by Chris Cornell)
Characters: Mal/Crew. Mal character study.
Episodes: All, plus the movie.
Length: 4:40
Format: WMV

60mb zipped WMV

Motion sickness?!??!

Sweet Buddha on a Bicycle!!

How the hell did you get that done and keep your sanity?

It was awesome, as per usual! You so very much rock at this. It's not the song I would have chosen, but you know that. However, this line... "I'm only pure when I'm lost" is so *completely* Mal that it's breathtaking.

Well done.

Thanks, Jacqui. I think the vid conveys what I was trying to do for the most part. There aren't a lot of parts that I watch and go "oh that didn't come out the way I wanted." I guess that's a good sign.

All of the lyrics are very, very Mal in my opinion. But Cornell has a tendency to become a little unintelligible at times so it's not always easy to pick up on what he's singing. If you just read the lyrics, you'd think it was a poem written about Mal.

Can't wait to see your vid.

Just saw this vid and really liked it. I had never heard the song before, which means I had to switch off the portion of my brain that devotes itself to actually absorbing lyrics, because otherwise I'd miss the whole vid just listening to the song.

What that means is my first reaction is based soley on sound and picture and less on theme and metaphor. Excellent editing. It all looked and felt right, and I loved the moment that flashed back to the Battle at Serenity Valley where Mal was running in time with drums. Haven't seen the episode in awhile, so I'm not sure, but I'm guessing *a lot* of work went into getting that shot to match.

Rest assured I'll be watching this again, and - based on your other work that I've seen - once I'm familiar with the song I'm sure it'll be a great match thematically as well.

Hopefully you're downloading the vids from the site instead of through old posts cause I don't even know how many of these old links still work. :P In any case, the lyrics are up at my site as well if you're curious... here.

This is still my wife's favorite vid of mine, which is both kind of cool and very frustrating since I really hope I've improved since this. I'm still extremely proud of the bridge with the source-footage spin pans. I don't know if I've done anything since then that I've been more happy with than that bridge.

The Serenity Valley clip played nice with the music, so I didn't have to do much to it but speed it up (the right amount).

Yeah, I got the vid from the site and then searched for the post to comment.
