New vid: "In The Dark" (Sleepy Hollow)

I'm in the details with the devil.

Length: 3:06
Fandom: Sleepy Hollow
Song/Artist: My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light'em Up) by Fallout Boy

Lyrics
Be careful making wishes in the dark
Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
Besides in the meantime I'm just dreaming of tearing you apart
I'm in the details with the devil
So now the world can never get me on my level
I just got to get you out of the cage
I'm a young lovers rage
Gonna need a spark to ignite

My songs know what you did in the dark
So light'em up up up (x3)
I'm on fire

All the writers keep writing what they write
Somewhere another pretty vein just dies
I've got the scars from tomorrow and I wish you could see
that you're the antidote to everything except for me
A constellation of tears on your lashes
Burn everything you love then burn the ashes
In the end everything collides
My childhood spat back out the monster that you see

Thanks for watching!

I loved this, I thought it was ridiculously awesome. :D :D (I also heard someone around me say...ohhhh, now I get Brad's costume!)

Speaking of costume, when you have a sec, can you send that Bucky pic of me you took to cesperanza at gmail? Many thanks!!

Pics sent!

And thanks about the vid. What people did while it was playing was very cool. Definitely something I'll never forget.

I saw this on tumblr, and it's FANTASTIC! The song is perfect, and your edit is riveting. Well done!

Oh, thank you so much! I just had to do this after seeing the show.

This is amazing and so fun to watch. Such a great look at the Crane family, such as it is :D

Well said about the Crane family, ha. Really glad you enjoyed the vid. Thanks for telling me!

Such a fantastic vid! I love the focus on the Crane family issues. :)

I can't help but think of your amazing Club Vivid costume when rewatching this. It looked great, but you must have been boiling alive in it!

Oh wow, double compliment! Thanks so much!

The costume was pretty hot. But Milly spent so long on it, I wasn't about to take it off right away. Plus no one could tell how nervous I was when I had the mask on. :)

Yay, new Sleepy Hollow vid from you, love it! And a dark one at that! Really really like the intro here, such a great job of establishing the vid and building momentum and tension right away. Also, I'm a sucker for the horsemen footage you used throughout, and I like the rhythm of the cuts during the first verse especially.

(Am I allowed to be curious and ask what the costume was that everyone is talking about?)

Thank you so much! This is such a pretttty show, and I admit that influences my vid ideas a bit - in the sense that I've been trying to choose themes and narratives that thread through a lot of the most pretty shots. In this case I got to play with POV as a bonus, which is always fun.

I'll message you about the costume.

I don't know how, but I somehow missed this comment! What a wonderful surprise to stumble across it now. I certainly think the reaction to this vid at Club Vivid was about 90 percent good luck. But hey, I'll take it! Really glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the lovely comment here.

God Im so glad SH is back on soon, because this vid now has me champing at the bit for more.

Never heard the song but now its synonymous with your vid and SH, its got all the hallmarks of typical bradcpu greatness. Trippy visuals/shot choice, beat syncing and sublime flow.

Downloaded for repeat viewings.

No idea how I missed this, but wow. Thanks, man! First time I've ever heard that I have typical greatness! I'll try to stay typical. :)

I probably spent more time on this vid than any other one this year, so I really appreciate the compliments about the flow and attn to music. Hope you're liking the new season.

You squeezed so much of the show's visuals, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised given how effectively you managed the atmosphere in Moonlight. This vid has a very different feel but it works perfectly for the subject matter. Murderous love triangles and fucked up family reunions FTW! And the repeated use of horses over the long notes (you know, the ohhh-oh-ohoh-ohhhh-oh) was awesome.

Aww, thanks you! I went with my old trick of conveniently picking the plot thread with the most trippy visuals. Wish you could have been at Club Vivid with us this year. It was something special, at least for me. Maybe next year? BRING VIDS.

I'm glad I finally got a chance to see this because it's incredible! The editing is so sharp and the tone is such a beautiful cross of creepy and upsetting with a kind of wry humor - I mean the song choice itself feeds into that and then you use the source so brilliantly to back it up. Great job narratively, too, with tying the Crane family and the horseman together. Just fantastic.
bradcpubradcpu on January 11th, 2015 04:30 pm (UTC)
Wow, thank you so much! The visuals and tone for the show are so naturally trippy and creepy that it almost feels like cheating. But it was just so much fun to put together. So glad you liked it!
