Wow. Just, wow. Haven't seen this season at all but that was beautifully done. My favorite part was well...everything. :D I particularly liked the transitions you have with the eyes and the storm. THE coolest part was where you timed the blood drops on the roses with the music. TOTALLY amazing.

It's so cool (and reassuring) that you enjoyed it so much despite not having seen this season yet. I actually started watching the show this season, connected to the show through Cara, then went back and caught up on season 1 afterward... so I guess I did it kind of backward. Thank you so much for the amazing comment! After seeing this vid in my head for months, it's great feeling to be able to get it out of my head and onto the screen (and into your head, I suppose!)

Epic vid is EPIC.

Wow dude, this is the like some unrealistic super model of the vidding world - its beautiful but actually has depth (unlike most RL versions).

You've totally done the beautiful source justice with even prettier editing. This actually just tops Vertigo as my favorite from you now - which is saying a lot as I know nothing about the source.

And I just love it when I hear a song for the first time in a vid and the editor just absolutely makes it their own. Won't be able to think of anything else now when I hear it again. The track does have that ethereal quality that makes it seem like it was made for the soundtrack & your vid just curves itself around the music like some exotic poledancer.

I can see why you like this show & now its one I must check out thanks to this vid. I may need your help with a decent excuse to use on the wife though. It'll be hard for her not to look past the 2 hawt women as my main motivation, so help a brother out hey?

LOL! Hey, thanks man! I'm really blown away by your reaction, especially since you haven't seen the show.

The moment Nicky sent me the song I immediately thought *that's it!* - both in terms of fitting the mood/look of the show and in terms of fitting the character and relationship. That makes it so much easier. Then you just have to show what you're seeing - which is fun to do when the source gives you this much to work with.

It'll be hard for her not to look past the 2 hawt women as my main motivation, so help a brother out hey?
Ha! Well, my wife enjoys it. And there are some very fit guys in it too (believe it or not) and they're usually shirtless. :P But all that aside, it's just a really fun show - cheesy enough to laugh at and enjoy without taking it too seriously, but also quite a lot of Epicness and some really compelling characters and character development. Plus pretty much every episode has a massive slow motion battle. ;)

I had hoped I'd have something intelligent to say about this two months later, but nope. Still stuck on GODdamn.

I hold my breath every time that blood drops on the white rose. Every. time.

Still stuck on GODdamn.
You seem to be under the impression that I'd be somehow disappointed at hearing that. :P That's pretty much dream feedback. Thank you.

The blood drip (Cara) on the rose (Kahlan) was my first idea for the vid in terms of how the show and concept fit the song, so I kind of built it outward from that. Really means a lot to see how you react to it. :)

My apologies for being so late to this vid--I had some internet-related mental health issues (the fact they kept me from your vids should give you some indication of how strong they were!). I still do really but I'm sneaking... (groan at bad pun) But I see you have more than enough comments anyway--so glad it met such a glorious reception! ;)

This was fascinating for me to watch because your journey with and viewing of 'Seeker' was very different to my own. I love the world you create here and your use of the beautiful footage. I found the actress that plays Cara very powerful and you make great use of that here. It's always so interesting to borrow someone else's eyes... and interesting to read in your notes that you think Cara herself might not admit so far--vids are so good for exploring things in characters' unconscious minds. :)

LOL at the toning down of sex metaphors though (truly that show is OUT OF CONTROL!).

I'm really sorry to hear about your difficulties lately. I hope things are going better for you these days, or at least headed in a good direction. It's nice that you feel compelled to watch my vids despite that, and I really like the idea that they can offer you something positive, even in times like these. Which is a long and rambling way of saying "thank you for watching." :) And for *wanting to watch.*

There are some pretty wide ranging opinions about and impressions of Seeker, but it struck just the right balance for me in terms of the visuals, not taking itself too seriously, and yet offering some really compelling characters and character development. I found it refreshing after being involved in so many shows and so many fandoms that are deathly serious *all the time* about everything, and with an antagonistic atmosphere swirling around the fandom. Seeker is kind of the opposite.

So of course, what's the first thing I vid? The angst. *headdesk* I'm glad you found it interesting to watch said angst through my eyes. Seemed pretty obvious to me, but I've learned through the years that we all see these things in different ways, and that's what makes vidding and watching vids so interesting.

LOL at the toning down of sex metaphors though (truly that show is OUT OF CONTROL!).
LOL totally! Well... It was out of control. Now it's out of existence. :(

You're a genius.
This video is perfection on each and every level.

I know I said I was avoiding all things LotS, but I am weak.

This is -- wow, this is gorgeous on every level: motion and musicality and colour and light. Your voice is so strong here, and despite my unfamiliarity with the source, you've imbued such character and longing into every scene.

Your motion is so perfectly tied in to the music that I can hardly pick out what I love best -- the movement and time changes are so interwoven with the crescendos and sotto voces. However, the strike and chain mail links reverberating with the music's trill at 1:42 and again, mutedly at 1:47 are especially gorgeous.

I am absolutely in love with the nature imagery throughout. The opening of cloud and sky, of flight, is beautiful, but it's the repeated use that makes it so powerful -- sky and cloud, sun and moon, water and fire and parched soil. It lifts the vid up so that it creates and encompasses a whole world. I feel like I was just allowed a view into something epic and beautiful.

Hey, thanks, Cherry! I'm really glad you liked it. You can watch it on the big screen with me at Nearly New in a couple of months, if you choose to do so. :)

I admit that the bridge is my favorite part, and after finishing that part of the vid I remember feeling satisfied in a way that I rarely do while editing. It's really gratifying that it resonated for you.

I am absolutely in love with the nature imagery throughout
You've used such imagery to great effect with Merlin, so it means a lot to read that coming from you. Thank you.

I feel like I was just allowed a view into something epic and beautiful.
I call it Legend of the Seeker.

I was just introduced to this vid at VidUKon, and oh man, it's gorgeous. I really must get around to watching this show. This vid is so emotionally charged and engaging that I just want more.
bradcpubradcpu on April 14th, 2011 05:08 pm (UTC)
I'm so glad it played well at the con, and I'm flattered by your description!

The show is pretty quirky: an unusual mix of action, somewhat campy sci-fi, comedy, sexuality, and visual flair. At times it feels very much like Buffy meets Lord of the Rings. But this particular aspect of the show - the relationship between these two characters - is indeed emotionally charged. There are so many levels to it, and it's so well written and acted, you just can't look away.

The show's on Netflix, Hulu, and DVD if you want to check it out.
