Festivids recs

I watched ALL ~200 vids so you don't have to! (Though I highly recommend you do because your mileage may vary.) Anyway, here are my absolute favorites from this year and the ones I'll be rewatching over and over:


Alien series
Stayin' Low
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the greatness of this one. It's flawless in every way. If you are/were into the movies at all, head there post-haste.

Charlie's Angels movies
Circus of Heartbreakin' Divas
I've never seen any of the movies and this still floored me. Every time you think it can't get any more over the top epic, it finds another top. Words fail me.

Mirror's Edge
The two vids for this fandom happened to have been made for me, but that aside I honestly believe they're both among the best handful of vids I've seen in the past year. Definitely don't miss them, even if you're unfamiliar with the game. Raise Your Weapon is expertly crafted using mostly gameplay footage and just makes my heart sing. The Hard Way is a very powerful character study/relationship overview with gorgeous and hypnotic execution.

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
Your Disco Needs You
Probably the best recruiter vid I've seen for the animated series and an absolute necessity for Club Vivid this year. (Right, Ian?)

Shaun of the Dead
Under Pressure
It's playful, inspired, and just a joy to watch. And surprisingly affirming by the end.

Batman: Under the Red Hood
This Night
A moving relationship overview filled with brilliant (and touching) parallels and equally brilliant musicality.

Dororo
Hand In My Pocket
I'm pretty sure I injured something laughing.

Mission Impossible movies
Sabotage
Incredible musicality and edge-of-your-seat action all through. It's really hard to not enjoy this.
